DIY Gifts for Hanukkah and Christmas

 

Paper-covered Metal Boxes

A great way to recycle any small metal boxes you have. You can also buy new ones, online or craft supplies shops has a good selection.

You need:

Metal boxes

Decorative paper

Ruler

Scisccor

Double sided tape

Ribbon, pipe cleaners etc

Pistachios

 

1. Measure your box and cut strips of paper that will fit all around your box.Secure with tape

2. Decorate your box with ribbons, pipe cleaners or whatever you want to use, no rules.

3. Fill with pistachios and the gift is ready.

Dreidel Bags

Easy to make and looks so cool. It’s a great way to give away a bag of delicious pistachios plus you can add stuff in the little pocket. Like a name tag, gift card, cash etc.

You need:

Dreidel template, find online

Glitter paper

Scissors

Hot glue gun

Craft paper for tags

Small cellophane bags

Pistachios

String

 

1.Print out a dreidel template and cut out.

2.Trace onto the glitter paper, you will need two full dreidels and one half to made the little pocket.

3.Hot glue the two whole dreidels together and glue on the pocket.

4.Fill your cellophane bags with pistachios and tie up with some string.

5.Push the bag in-between the two dreidels and use the pocket for a name tag, gift card or cash.

Pistachio Filled Paper Stars

Such a cute gift. You can hang them in a window, wall or even on a Hanukkah bush. Vellum paper can be found online or at craft supplies stores. If you don’t have a sewing machine , you can hand-stitch the stars together or even glue them.

You need:

Star template

Scissors

Vellum paper

Sewing machine

Ribbon 

 

1.Find a star template online and print it out, my star was 7”x7”.

2.Trace the star onto vellum paper and cut out, you need two stars per gift.

3.Sew the stars together all along the edges, leave a little hole for the pistachios.

4.Fill with pistachios and sew together adding a ribbon loop so the star can hang.

It’s now ready.

And yes, you will have to tear up the star to get to the delicious pistachios.

Star Jars

Recycle old glass jars into these Super cute gifts. After you have eaten all the delicious pistachios use the jars to keep jewelry, trinkets etc. Glitter paper can be found at most paper supplies stores.

You need:

Glass jars with metal or plastic lid

Craft paint

Brush

Glitter paper

Scissors

Hot glue gun or super glue

 

1.Paint the jar lids using craft paint, you will need 2-3 layers. Dry well in-between the layers.

2.Cut out small stars in the glitter paper, find a template online if you need that.

3.Leave one star point a bit longer so you can fold it over and glue to the lid.

4.Glue the stars to the lids and add pistachios.

Ready to use.

Pistachio Ornaments

So cute as gift toppers or simply hang on the tree. Remember the first Christmas trees was decorated with edibles like nuts, fruit and flowers. If you want them a little more festive add some small wreaths, I found these in the scrapbooking section of my local craft supplies store.

You need:

Clear plastic ornaments

Pistachios

Ribbon 

scissors

Scapbooking wreath, if you want

 

1. Remove the top of the ornaments and add your pistachios.

2. Place the top back on and add a ribbon.

3. If you want a wreath on it simply glue it on using a hot glue gun or some craft glue.

Pistachio Trees

Picture a bunch of these on your holiday table, and when the night is over each guest can take a tree home with them. A delicious memory of a fabulous evening.

You need:

Clear small plastic piping bags, you can usually find these at your local grocery store

Pistachios

Rubber bands

Small stars, can be wood, metal or cut your own out of some card stock.

Craft glue

Small terra-cotta pots

Craft paint

 

1. If you want to add some color to your terra-cotta pots simply paint them using craft paint.Let dry completely.

2. Fill your piping bags with pistachios and secure the ends with rubber bands.

3. Place the piping bags into the pots and glue the star on top.
